The Scottish Directory.org would like to actively encourage website owners, webmasters and visitors to our site to let us know of sites that are relevant to our directory and therefore relevant to our visitors. You do not need to be the owner of a site to recommend it to us just let us know about the site and we will be sure to include it if it pertinent to our visitors.
If you are not the owner of a site please use the form at the bottom of this page to let us know about a site worthy of inclusion. If you are a website owner or a webmaster, please use our “Submit Site” page. This will enable you to enter your relevant anchor text and relevant Meta tags etc. and manage your links in the future.
As this directory is a family friendly resource we are very strict in what type of sites we accept for inclusion. We need this directory to be a safe environment for all that may visit so there will be sites that we will exclude from being part of it. We will accept up to 5 different links for the one site as long as all the links are to different pages and that all are in different and relevant categories in the directory.
As you may have seen, we do not even request a reciprocal link for inclusion in this directory. We would only ask that you consider linking back to us. The reason for this is that we believe that RELEVANT reciprocal linking will help this directory to get indexed by search engines more deeply and also if this directory gets more popular with hits from visitors then there are more visitors for us to send to YOUR site.
Please read the following guidelines thoroughly before submitting a site for inclusion. Please also check by means of a search whether the site is already included:
- Do not submit mirror sites. These sites will be deleted immediately.
- Do not submit more than 5 pages of your site and do not submit a particular page more than once or any of the same site URL to a single category. We will accept 5 separate pages of your site to 5 separate categories (including subcategories) on our directory.
- Do not submit any site with an address that redirects to another address. Any site that shows a redirect will be immediately rejected no matter the reason for the redirect. This includes cloaked addresses.
- The Scottish Directory.org will NEVER include sites with illegal content. Examples of illegal content include child pornography; libel; material that infringes any intellectual property right; and material that specifically advocates, solicits or abets illegal activity (such as fraud or violence).
- We do not accept any submission requests from sites that carry adult or sexual content, gambling sites or any sites of a pharmaceutical nature. This is quite a simple fact but we get inundated by these types of sites. UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES WILL ANY SITES IN THESE GENRES BE ACCEPTED!
- Do not submit sites that are still under construction. Please wait until you have completed your site before you attempt to submit it. Sites that are not complete are of no use to our visitors and therefore of no use to this directory.
- Don't submit sites that consist of mainly affiliate links. We have no use for sites of this genre as we will probably have included the sites that you link to anyway.
- Please put your site in the correct category. We do not have the time, unfortunately to sort out sites categories. Sites that have been requested for inclusion in an inappropriate category will be deleted immediately.
- Do not submit sites contain automatic pop-ups or pop-unders.
- Do not submit sites that contain a flash only home page, with no visible message for non-flash users.
- Do not use ALL CAPITAL letters in either your title or your description.
- In the description do not, use any HTML tags, capitalise the first letter of every word, just repeat keywords (use your anchor text keyword only once), use highly promotional language like best, biggest, utmost, cheapest etc., use a string of keywords. If you use any of the above tactics your site may just be deleted without inclusion. Please write submissions in third party language using "their" instead of "our", "they" instead of "we" etc.as this leads to a far more objective look to the directory rather than a promotional feel.
- Please submit all suggestions to the DEEPEST category possible. Submissions to top level categories will be scrutinised thoroughly to ensure that a deeper sub-category is not available.
The Scottish Directory.org reserves the right to change any submission received by them as they see fit. We fully reserve the rights as to the decisions whether to include a site or not.
